good credit card for auto repair?
I have to get a new transmission for my car and it would take to long to save the money to fix it so I would rather make payments on a credit card. Does anyone know of a good credit card for auto repairs? with a somewhat low APR. I dont want to get a loan.

Try the Discover Open Road card, http://www.discovercard.com/open-road/ .

mercedes m class auto transmission yes or no?
im considering buying a 99/00 ish m class jeep but im scaerd of automatics what i want to know is when does a auto clutch break and whats it like to repair also are there any other weak points in this jeep

admin answers:
The 722.6 series auto transmission found in the early ML’s are quite good. The biggest issue with them is a leaking diagnostic plug at the front of the transmission but the fix is simple (just replace it) and the part itself is cheap enough.
There are some other less common issues such as the cooler lines letting go and the transmission going into limp-mode (usually the result of a bad electronic plate at the bottom of the transmission).
During those years, Benz stated that the transmission fluid and filter was good enough for the life of the transmission. In later years, Benz reversed that and did introduce a maintenance schedule for the transmission but I would do it on this vehicle as well, even though the maintenance schedule does not call for it. I would also replace the diagnostic plug at the same time just as a preventive measure.
Also, while automatic transmissions do have clutch discs, they are not operated in the same way as the clutch pedal on a manual transmission. The guts (internal components) of the transmission are not an issue to worry about. They will easily last the life of the vehicle under normal operating conditions.

big ticket auto repairs?
If an indivisual does not have all the money up front to get lets a transmission rebuilt will the mechanic allow there expense to you to be broken down into payments.

admin answers:
Doubtful, but you might be able to apply for credit with a company that will pay for the repairs and charge you monthly with interest. Mechanics aren’t banks, they fix cars.

Did I get over-charged for a transmission gasket replacement?
I recently got my transmission gasket replaced on a 91 mercury sable and was charged $190 including labor. Is that normal? I was also told that I still need to get my oil pan replaced due to a small leak and was quoted $388 for the job. I was thinking that sounded a little high, but with inflation these days, I’m unsure of current auto repair costs. Any info would be appreciated.
According to the invoice, it’s a transmission oil pan gasket

admin answers:
Which gasket. Ok a bit high but not much. 388 for pan replacement is resonable
