Green clean New Zealand without a doubt.Emmision tests are done on every vehicle every 6 months by law and if do not meet Government standards are ordered off road until fixed.New carbon laws are coming in soon and Our airline are testing bio fuels along with our fishing fleet to reduce pollution,Just wish other large countries would follow

Donna asks…

what is the best way of solving a vehicle suspension problem?

The engineering design world has evolved so much that the pace at which technology is moving shows that within a split second, myriads of new, efficient and well structured designs which help to improve upon human existence are either discovered or produced in such a way that the whole human community cannot help but apppreciate the very essence of her existence. People can pay their way through for a vacation to the moon. These tremendeous progress has been commended world over, yet the entire univerese is plagued with unsurmountable natural disasters like the wild fire in America, Huricane ,Psunami in Asia, issues of poverty in the developing continuents of the world. Malaria, HIV & AIDS are ravaging millions of people in Africa. I should not also leave this stage without mentioning the naging issues of Global warming caused by high level of carbon dioxide emission facing the whole world. Even though science has done so much in addressing some of these problems, more needs to be done

Depends on what your problem is.

Custom tires and wheels, tires with weak sidewalls, and underinflated tires can all make a suspension seem bad, and a thorough check of all the tires is one of the first things that should be done.

Then the the next steps would be to have the wheel alignment checked (all 4 wheels), and to have the shock absorbers or struts checked.
Then there are the tie rods, sway bars, ball joints, and control arm connections that can all be checked for bad bushings, bearing surfaces, and worn parts.
Some steering gears are also adjustable.
Suspension systems are complicated and hard to diagnose.

Good Luck.

Constant velocity joints can also be a problem, but if they are, you can usually tell from the noise they make.

E85, Hybrid, Natural Gas, Plug in electric, — which is the best both economically and environmentally?

The big US automakers have sold several million “flex-fuel” vehicles that run on E85.

Toyota, Honda, and Ford are selling thousands of Hybrids

Tesla (www.teslamotors.com) has recently released an all electric car, but unfortunately its very expensive and I can’t afford it.

Honda also has begun selling Natural Gas powered Civics to the public in New York and California, which emit even fewer emissions than the Toyota Prius, and costs less to re-fuel.

I’m thinking about purchasing a economical and environmentally friendly vehicle. What is my best choice. I live in California.

The answer is electric, and I will make my case below.
*
Electric vehicles are here NOW, and can even be found very cheaply, if you know where to look. Here’s a website about cheap electric cars (as little as $5000):
*

http://squidoo.com/cheap-electric-car

*
Nothing is cheaper to drive than an electric car. This may surprise some people, but it’s true. I drive an EV, and my electricity cost is only ONE CENT per mile.
*
EVs are cheap to drive because they are very energy efficient. This is also why they pollute so little, even when electricity comes from fossil fuels.
*
Finally, look at one of the newest EVs on the market – the ZAP-X:
*

*
The ZAP-X is a 644-horsepower, 155mph electric car designed by Lotus. It has a 350-mile range, and charges in just 10 minutes. $60,000, but worth it.

Why hasn’t natural gas caught on as a more viable option to Oil?

I know many community vehicles in the US have their buses running on natural gas and I know there are many logistic and supply issues that go along with this since all of our infrastructure is based on moving gasoline and oil.

But still, Natural gas would be the best alternative, it is abundant here, and science has shown that emissions from natural gas vehicles is actually cleaner than the air you breathe.

When my father worked in Ankara, Turkey, they had a big problem with smog, so they modified all their cabs to take natural gas and the smog cleared up pretty quick.

I see a lot of car companies focusing on hybrids but that still doesnt solve the issue, it just delays it.

admin answers:

There are several reasons.

The first is that natural gas like oil is a fossil fuel. There is an estimated 100 year supply of natural gas.

The second reason is that the United States wishes to become energy independent. The United States does not have many natural gas rich places so we would not become energy independent.

The third is that the United States can’t switch the ways the ways their cars get energy to quickly. If we did it might trigger another great depression. Where would all the people working for oil companies go?

However there are some natural gas cars coming out in 2008. One of them is the Honda Civic that runs on natural gas.

Best deal for buying fuel efficient vehicle?

I’m a geologist who is always in the field or rock hounding. However I am also green friendly and trying to find a vehicle that is higher off the ground and gets great mileage.

My current car I’ve had the alignment done three times already since I’ve taken it places where I shouldn’t.

Anyone have a car they would like to share? I’ve looked at Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, Subaru (Forester/outback) and Ford escape. I don’t know how accurate the EPA emission and gas mileage http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm so I wanted driver comments.

admin answers:

Drive on the road as close as you can and then walk from there. That’s the way I had to do Geology field school. Or pull an ATV on a trailer behind you.
