the cost of a head gasket replacement?
Hi, i have a audi a3 and ive got white gunk on my oil filler cao and rocker cover neck, does anyone know the cost to have the gasket replaced by a mechanic.

Around $500.00 since they are going to remove the head , I will highly recomend to have the head serviced ( valve job , new valve stem seals . Check for warps ) the machine shop should not charge you more than a $100.00 for that , and the mechanic +parts .since they have the head removed I also suggest to replace your timing belt and water pump , do things right the first time , belive me I learn that the hard way .

Head Gasket Replacement – Vauxhall COrsa 1.4?
Hello there,
I wonder if someone could help. My car’s head gasket has recently blown up, which led water and oil to be mixed together.
I ve taken the car to the nearest garage and they haven’t quoted me yet (2 days now) but said that a head gasket replacement costs at least £700.
Could anyone tell me if they are trying to rip me off or is this a reasonable price to pay? Given the fact that the car is almost 10 year old now, should I just consider the option of taking it to its final destination (scrap yard) and if so how much could I get out of it? (everything is fine in the car apart from the head gasket)

PS: Open to Quotes for anyone that can repair it cheaper… (guildford, surrey, UK)

Hi there as a automotive technician that seems a bit steep to me, to replace a head gasket is a labour intensive job but i woulnt expect that it would cost more than £400 max, the gasket itself isnt expensive perhaps £20 unless they are doing a head set which is a lot more but to me thats a rather steep price as the engine isnt that complicated
