Does a CARFAX report if a Timing Belt Service has been performed at a Honda Dealer?
I am looking to find out if my Used Honda Accord has ever had the Timing Belt service performed. I called around and the local dealers don’t seem to have a record from the previous owner.
Would a CARFAX report tell me this service record?

admin answers:
Not the details of services that were done to the car but it will tell you things like accidents, major repairs, odometer issues, smog history, etc….
You should get it replaced anyway, including the other belts as well. Might as well do them all at once.

Can someone tell me what the Honda factory recommends for timing belt service on 97 Prelude?
I don’t have a manual as i bought the car used and i keep reading different things. I want to know what the Honda manufacturer suggests as the timing belt change interval. is it 90k miles or 105k miles?

admin answers:
If you have 90,000 miles on your engine I’d look into replacement ASAP. The saying “Pay a little now or Pay ALOT later” definitely applies when it comes to Honda Engines. Because if the belt happens to break a little before it’s recommended replacement time, your going to bend valves and cost yourself at least $1000 more for the repairs. My shop recommends changing it every 7 years or 90.000 miles depending on the driving and elements the car is exposed to. I’d change the water pump and cam, crank seals while your at it. Also check the condition of the tensioner and idler pulley as well as the drive belts since the labor will be about the same to do so. Good luck and hope this helps.

How much does it charge Timing belt service for a G35?
My G35 is about to hit 60k miles. Im just wondering how much would it cost for the service. Maybe anyone had thier done recently or a mechanic can help me. Thanks in advance.

admin answers:
$0.00
The G35 doesn’t have a timing belt.
***EDIT***
Curious that I got a thumbs down when the G35 does in fact have a chain, not a belt like all Nissans.

We are looking for a reputable place to perform timing belt service on a 1998 Audi a4 reasonably priced?

I own a Audi A4 2000. And what I found is that Audi’s are very complex machines. Most mechanics (non audi) do not have a clue to what is involved in doing Audi timing belt. So my recommendation when it comes to timing belt is to go to real Audi dealer.
But call around to different dealer. I found that they do NOT all charge the same price. And depending on you car model, you might get away with NOT doing water pump change (normally done together). My 2000 A4 water pump is on the outside and NOT driven by the timing belt. Even by 2000.5 the water pump design was changed again to be driven by timing belt. Ask the dealer.
My original dealer (Beiner of Long Island) wanted $1500 for timing belt and water pump. They never even asked me about the water pump as optional swap. The second dealer (Anchor Audi of Long Island) wanted something like $1100. Without the water pump swap, it only cost me $850 (total). Anchor Audi also found few work done by “previous mechanics” wrong (they showed me). That previous mechanics was Beiner audi (sucky workmanship).
Good Luck.

Will the Service check light come on if I need a new timing belt?
My 2002 audi a4 has 75,000 miles on it and don’t know if the last owner changed the timing belt. Would the service light come on if I needed one replaced?

admin answers:
Shouldnt need repalcing for another 40,000 miles or so and sure most anything wil cause a light to come on from a loose gas cap to a bad wire service light mean more likey a tune up thing plugs fuel filter air filter unlikely its a timing belt
