Where to find a free 86 VW Cabby clutch repair manual?
My clutch went TOTALLY out on my cabby..and I do mean totally. It won’t even let the car crank.SO..I am sure that more than the clutch disc is messed up and will need replacing…but..I need to find a free manual that I can at least look at ,if not download, so that I will know what I am looking at and what most likely will be needing replacement. This was unexpected (of course..lol) so I am working on a low budget and will be darn lucky if I can get all the neccessary parts at once. Thanks to anyone who can help.(this needs to be a totally FREE manual.I don’t mind registering at a website so long as I won’t be paying anything for at least a view, if not available for downloading.)
Thanks djaca..but I think you missed the word FREE..I do realize this job is not for the novice.I have changed plenty of manual transmissions out so I have a pretty good grasp of things.I just need to know where each part goes since this is a VW and not the typical Ford/Chevy/Honda/Chrysler/ect vehicle.

Try going on Bentleypublishers.com. You do realize this work is not for the novice.

Michael asks…
What is this part on my car called?
I have an oil leak in my car and I have identified where the leak is coming from but have no clue what it is called. It’s coming from on top of the part that holds the oil filter on. It’s NOT coming from around the oil filter. It only leaks when the car is running and I need to know what this part is called and what part of it would be leaking, like a gasket or what? It’s a 1995 VW Jetta and my repair manuals don’t have a diagram for this part.

admin answers:
If you have identified the source of the leak just take it to a mechanic you trust or back to the dealership and it should be an easy fix. Sorry but i don`t know exactly what vw calls that part but if you can point out the problem it should not be a big deal.

What happens if I don’t replace or repair the AC compressor on my car?
My mechanic told me that the belt that drives my AC compressor needs to be replaced. He said it will likely cost around $1000, but I really don’t have that kind of money right now. The mechanic told me that I really needed to get it replaced or it could cause further damage to the car.
Is this true? Or is he just trying to put one over on me? I totally don’t mind driving without AC. If it is true, please tell me what will happen if I don’t get it replaced.
The car is a 98 VW golf manual transmission.
Thanks!
Also, if the compressor itself is broken, can that cause damage to the car‘s other systems? (I know…I’m 100% dumb about cars.)

admin answers:
First if all you need to do is have the belt replaced then $1000 seems way too much. Your ac should still be working the belt does not drive the compressor it is just a pulley. So if your belt broke your ac should still be working. The belt should be the Serpentine belt that you are talking about and yes you should get that replaced but not for no $1000 and no it will not hurt your ac system it is a different system. There is a lot of helpful information about your vehicles ac system on the web site below.

i have some questions about my new car, 1999 VW Beetle?
it’s a manual, does that get better mileage than automatics?
it has 140K miles but my uncle just put a new engine in (i think engine or motor, i’m not mechanicky at all), do you think it could potentially last to 250K?
and i don’t know if this has anything to do with it being a VW, but how much would it cost to repair a blown speaker in the back?
Thanks

admin answers:
Yes a will get better fuel mileage than the automatic and less trans problems too, it could last 250k miles for sure.
The speaker cannot be repaired, just replace it with a new one.
